Na primjer, Me\u0111unarodni zakonik o u\u0161tedi energije (IECC) ve\u0107 godinama zahtijeva da se zgrade projektiraju i grade kako bi bile nepropusne i energetski u\u010dinkovitije. \u0160tovi\u0161e, fokus se sve vi\u0161e prebacuje na prozore. Stoga je potrebno pravilno upravljanje vlagom kako bi se izbjeglo talo\u017eenje kondenzacije, plijesni i drugih vrsta o\u0161te\u0107enja na prozorima i zgradama. Ovo je glavni pokreta\u010d promjena, poput uklanjanja toplinskih mostova. Dodatni poticaj za promjene su visoki zahtjevi za naknadu \u0161tete, koji su mogu\u0107i prema ameri\u010dkom pravnom sustavu. Dvije studije koje je u ime SWISSPACER-a pripremio institut EMU Systems u Coloradu daju osnovne potrebne podatke. Studije istra\u017euju toplinski otpor na okviru, rubu stakla i preko cijelog prozora, kao i povr\u0161insku temperaturu na rubu stakla na temelju lokalno primjenjivih standarda i metoda prora\u010duna. To uklju\u010duje izra\u010dunavanje odgovaraju\u0107e vrijednosti za podru\u010dje \u0161irine 63,5 mm (2,5 in\u010da). Kako se ovo preklapa sa \u201eUf-okvirom\u201c, bolja odstojna lajsna daje bolju vrijednost okvira. S vrlo u\u010dinkovitim distancerom izme\u0111u stakala, rizik od kondenzacije zna\u010dajno se smanjuje: tako su temperature na rubu stakla bile u prosjeku 7,2 \u00b0C vi\u0161e nego kod aluminijskih distancera u svim sustavima.
